Smurfit Westrock Mezzanine Floor Project

Smurfit Westrock needed to create additional usable space within their warehouse at North Hyde Gardens in Hayes, without compromising the operational floor area below. The building had the height available to support a mezzanine floor, making it possible to unlock unused vertical space and create a more practical area for comms, storage and supporting facilities.

Working in conjunction with our parent company, Advanced Commercial Interiors, The Mezzanine Company delivered a 105 sqm mezzanine floor as part of a wider workplace and warehouse improvement project. The mezzanine was designed with a 4.80 kN/m² loading and included P6 particle board decking, a utility staircase, handrails and associated structural works to provide safe, practical access across the new raised floor area.

The installation also included key compliance and fit-out elements to make the space suitable for day-to-day use. This included fire-rated fascia and column casings, a 60-minute fire-rated suspended ceiling beneath the mezzanine, drylining, partitioning, doors, skirting, lighting, power, containment, fire detection and access control.

As part of the overall package, a dedicated comms room was created with anti-static flooring and a stand-alone air conditioning system, helping Smurfit Westrock gain a functional mezzanine-supported area while retaining the wider warehouse space for ongoing operations.
