Production Mezzanine Floors

Add valuable production space above your existing operations, without halting output or moving premises.

Add valuable production space without halting output or moving premises

A production mezzanine floor is a raised steel platform installed within your existing manufacturing facility to create extra working space directly above or alongside your production operations.

Rather than competing for floor space at ground level, a production mezzanine lets you build upwards — unlocking room for additional production lines, assembly areas, sub-assembly stations, process machinery or component storage that feeds your line. The result is more output from the same building, without the cost and disruption of relocating.

Engineered to carry the heavier loads that manufacturing demands and designed around the way your facility actually works, our production mezzanines integrate with your existing process flow rather than getting in the way of it. From the structural calculations to the staircases, pallet gates and edge protection, every element is specified to keep your line moving safely and efficiently.

We design, plan and install production mezzanine floors for manufacturers right across the UK.

What Is a Production Mezzanine Floor?

A production mezzanine floor is a freestanding, structural steel platform built inside your manufacturing unit to create a second level of usable space dedicated to production activity.

Where a storage mezzanine is built to hold stock and a warehouse mezzanine is geared towards logistics, a production mezzanine is specified around the realities of a working manufacturing environment — the weight of machinery, the vibration and movement of a live line, the routing of power and services, and the safe flow of people and materials between levels.

That might mean lifting sub-assembly or finishing stations onto a mezzanine deck to free up the ground floor for your main line. It might mean creating a dedicated platform for process equipment, packing, quality control or kitting. Or it might mean adding a second production line entirely on a level above the first. Because the structure is purpose-built to your load specification and layout, it adapts to the process rather than forcing the process to adapt to it.

For manufacturers, the appeal is simple: a production mezzanine increases how much you can make within the building you already occupy, often adding 30% to 100% more usable floor area — and it does so far more cheaply than extending the building or moving to a larger site.

Designing a Production Mezzanine Around Your Process

Every manufacturing operation is different, which is why our production mezzanine projects begin with a thorough on-site survey and a conversation about how your facility runs day to day.

Our in-house design team will look at your clear internal height, floor slab condition, existing machinery positions, service routing and — crucially — the way materials and people move through your space. From there, we design a mezzanine that supports the right loads in the right places, with staircases, goods lifts, pallet gates and access points positioned to keep your production flow logical and safe. We’ll also factor in fire-rated flooring, edge protection, lighting and power so the new level is ready to work from day one.

Because our installation teams build freestanding steel structures, the work can usually be carried out with minimal interruption to your operations — and, where needed, in phases that keep part of your facility running throughout. We handle the structural and loading calculations, full Building Control compliance and the turnkey fit-out, so you get a production-ready space rather than just a platform.

We install production mezzanine floors across the UK, with key service areas including Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Doncaster, Wakefield and Birmingham. You can read more about our wider industrial mezzanine floors, explore factory mezzanines or learn about our mezzanine floor design process.
